Ollie Perez struggles…again

The Mets played a split squad game in Disney against the Atlanta Braves today.  Chris Young started for the Mets and pitched well, two perfect innings.  Its been good to see the Mets coming back from deficits where last season they couldn’t come back from a one run lead at times.

Oliver Perez pitched two innings in his spring debut, and I’m sure it is no surprise that he fell apart, letting up four runs in two innings.  I’m sick and tired of this act Perez keeps putting on.  He hasn’t done anything to deserve a spot on this team the last two years and he appears to think that it is his God given right that he should be on this team.

Frankly, I’m sick and tired of him.  I guess as a fan it’s more the fact that he hasn’t been a good teammate and has refused to do what is best for the team and his career.  I can’t understand why he won’t do that.  If last year he just went to the minors and showed the team he deserved the spot, he wouldn’t have been in this spot.  He cannot be on this team.  The front office can’t find ways to sell tickets, well they should know that if they were to cut both Perez and Castillo, I’m sure some of those fans would be at the ticket window because fans will see that the Mets are changing for the good.  I don’t see Perez making the rotation and he doesn’t appear to have a good shot at making the team.  If Perez wants to make money in the big leagues again, he needs to get his head on straight and do whats right and work things out in the minors.  If he were to do that, I can speak as a Mets fan that I would like him better than I do now.  The Padres couldn’t fix him, the Pirates couldn’t fix him, and so far Dan Warthen and the Mets haven’t been bale to fix him.

Here is the pitcher’s box score from today’s gamewith my wonderful computer highlighting skills.
