Mooooookie! and games today

I haven’t posted much on the coaching staff for the Mets in 2011, but I’m thrilled that Mookie Wilson is back with the organization and will be roaming the first base coaching box at Citi Field.  Mookie was a coach with the Mets previously and I think that he will bring some championship experience that he can share with the team and he can share his playoff experiences in New York.

The only thing is, the Mets have to cut Castillo so Mook can get his old number one back.  Or, Castillo could let him have it if for some reason he makes the team, which now appears he may end up with the big club.

The Mets are playing split squad games today against the University of Michigan and the Atlanta Braves at Disney.  I will post box scores of both games and will talk about the games, especially the starts from Chris Capuano and Ollie Perez

I have no idea how I missed that one — I mean, I’m a Braves fan, but still, I was pulling for the Mets in ’86 and loved Mookie then, and it’s great to hear he’s with the club now as a coach.

I’m listening to the Braves vs. Mets right now — I look forward to reading later what you write on Perez. One of the Braves’ broadcasters said he was “really good at eating salary” and the Mets had really been burned by his contract. That’s pretty much true … but I also remember when he was with the Pirates and had all the potential in the world.

    Anyway …
